I was doing one of my Free Online Classes on Zoom and I wanted to do a Z Fold Card. I figured that it would be an easy class. Little did I know that sometimes the things that I take for granted are things that people need to know how to do for themselves. That being cutting and folding. . Today I am just wanting to talk about cutting. When you have been around measuring for a good portion of your like you forget that some people just have never had the need to know the fundamentals of Measurements and Fractions until they get into this exciting world of Paper Crafting. Want to join my Back to Basics Facebook Group? You can go here and ask to join. We are just starting and we will cover all the basics and learn Techniques along the way.
So let's get Back to Basics. Firstly, you need to know how to Read a Ruler that you find on your Paper Trimmer.
Here is an enlarged picture of 1 inch of a ruler.
For layering of a card you will need to know how these measurements work. Here is a simple chart on layering.
ie. You want a 1/8" border all around, double that which equals 1/4". Cut your layer 1/2" bigger than the piece you want to layer.
OR: use the chart above.
Better yet, I have done up a downloadable PDF to use for a quick reference. Download Measuring and Layering
Here is a quick video on measuring.
