Christmas Crackers - Our Tradition
12/24/2019
One of our Favourite Christmas Traditions are Christmas Crackers. These Christmas Crackers were a tradition that originated in England. In Canada, we also celebrate the tradition. You can go shopping anywhere in Canada and find boxes of these in all the major stores, but it is so fun to make them and give them the personal crafting touch.
Quite a few years ago, I would say at least 20 years ago, I started making our Christmas crackers with Toilet Rolls. What a chore and very time consuming. Then a few years back, Stampin' Up!® started carrying the Envelope Punch Board. It is not only good for making envelopes, but it can make a number of different things including Christmas Crackers. Although the Envelope Punch Board is not in the current catalogs, it is available in the Clearance Rack. This year I was asked to make some that are Red and Gold. I was told that the girls liked Reindeers. Stampin’ Up doesn’t have any reindeer but they do have the Detailed Deer dies. I wanted to make a simple Christmas Cracker. I did very little decoration on it this year. I will include a supply list below.
I also did a video, showing you how to make these.
The dimension and scoring for these are:
Cherry Cobbler: 6 1/2" x 11" Scored at 1/2", 1 1/2", 2 1/2", 3 1/2", 4 1/2" and 5 1/2" on the 6 1/2" side and score at 2 1/4" and 3 1/4" on both sides on the 11" side.
Gold Foil: 3" x 3 1/2"
Ribbon: 2 x 6"
Some suggestions to put on the inside:
- snappers
- paper hats ( one year I didn't put them in and heard about it for years)
- jokes
- candy or chocolate
- Useful gifts such as, nail files, nail polish, lipstick, lottery tickets, small toys like cars stickers, marbles, small electronics, hair suff, kitchen gadgets, key chains etc....
I really can't believe that we made over 50 packages of 6 crackers for our Craft Fairs. They were great sellers.
Here is the Supply List:
What are your Christmas Traditions? This is just one of many for us.
I hope you all have a Merry Christmas .
Stampingly,
